Roatan IDC Staff Instructor Course

Do you remember your IDC, the Course Director and IDC Staff? Instructor candidates rely on Staff Instructors for guidance, scuba skills and dive industry knowledge similarly to how Open Water students look up to Divemasters.instructor_training_roatan

Barefoot Dive Pro enrolls only one IDC Staff trainee per IDC. Additionally, we consider PADI Instructors with at least 6 months of teaching experience for the IDCS program, allowing you to mentor with your experience as a scuba instructor.

To date Pro Diver Honduras has trained the majority of the IDC Staff Instructors working at Roatans dive resorts. These IDC Staff alumni teach the Assistant Instructor course and mentor candidates in the Barefoot Dive Instructor Internship program. These scuba pros are an integral part of the growing success of professional diving programs here in Roatan.

While teaching the assistant instructor internship program and mentoring Barefoot Dive Pro instructor candidates in their skills, our IDC Staff alumni are earning and advancing their own ratings towards Master Instructor. As an IDC Staff Instructor together we are investing in a stronger future in professional diving on Roatan.

So, the details – you are…

  • A PADI MSDT, current and in teaching status with at least 6 months experience
  • Current in your dive theory, demonstration quality skills and proficient at confined water-open water teaching demonstrations

During the IDC Staff Instructor course you will need to…utila_padi_instructor

  • Take the 5 dive theory exams and score at least 80%
  • Take the systems, standards and procedures exams scoring at least 80%
  • Complete a confined water skill circuit of all 20 skills – minimum skill score 3
  • Complete theory and confined water teaching presentations
  • Evaluate knowledge development, confined water and open water presentations
  • Finally and perhaps most importantly, learn how to make effective training fun
