What is the easiest way to Roatan?
From the US, Continental Airlines flies direct to Roatan from Houston, Delta Airlines flies direct to Roatan from Atlanta and Taca Airlines flies from Miami. Flights are typically between $500 and $700 roundtrip. Flight times usually take between 2 and 4 hours this way, delays are unusual and island arrival times are usually mid day or late afternoon.
What is the least expensive way to Roatan?
Spirit Airlines offers flights as cheap as $100 direct to San Pedro Sula from Ft Lauderdale, USA. Once in San Pedro Sula you can book a domestic flight with Taca/Islena or take a bus to the gateway city to the Bay Islands, La Ceiba, where there is a ferry to Roatan.
Bus - Once in San Pedro Sula there is a choice in luxury bus lines, Hedman Alas or Viana although Viana stops along the way and we are more familiar with Hedman Alas. Once you are in La Ceiba there is the Galaxy ferry to Roatan ($26) that leaves the 'Cabotaje de Viaje' (every day at 9am and 4pm), taxi drivers can drop you off for about $4 per person from the bus depots.
Airlines - Once in Honduras there are direct flights to Roatan from San Pedro Sula with Taca Airlines and Islena Airlines for about $100.
